Annual Report 2024

MESSAGE FROM THE IsDB PRESIDENT, HE Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser
In 2024, our flagship multilateral development initiative—the Lives and Livelihoods Fund— entered its next chapter: LLF 2.0.
Backed by a fresh US$500 million in grant replenishments, we are doubling down on one of the twenty-first century’s greatest missions: consigning hunger, malnutrition, and extreme poverty to history.
Resilient food systems are measured by more than bumper harvests and bustling markets. They are reflected in children who reach their fifth birthdays, in mothers who thrive, and in communities that prosper despite shocks.
Years of “hidden hunger” and “malnutrition” have cost countless lives and stunted economic progress. Chronic under-investment in agriculture and health has dimmed human potential and kept families trapped in poverty.
LLF 1.0 helped turn that tide. Through US$1.4 billion invested in 37 projects across 22 nations in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, we empowered over three million smallholder farmers to boost yields and incomes, delivered quality primary healthcare to 12.5 million women and children, enabled over 400 million life-saving immunizations, and are set to put safe water and sanitation within reach for 7.5 million people.
These results confirm what coordinated, well-funded action can achieve—and they set the stage for even greater impact.
LLF 2.0 builds on that momentum. Guided by our visionary global donors, this next phase will forge stronger regional alliances, unlock impactful and strategic partnerships, and help our member countries accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals—even as the development landscape grows more complex.
With continued, unwavering donor support, LLF 2.0 will continue transforming lives, lifting millions out of poverty and creating a future where every child is nourished and communities everywhere can flourish.
